Reminder to all students and parents. This Friday, October 19th is the end of the 1st quarter and we will be on a minimum day schedule. Sixth period ends at 12:06 and seventh period ends at 12:47.
Attention all Vanden blood donors! The blood drive is on Tuesday, October 23rd and this is the last week to turn in permission forms. If you still need forms, you can get them at lunch in Q-1. Please return all forms to Ms. McIntyre in Q-1 by Friday at lunch. If Q-1 is closed, you can also take them to M-3. You can help up to 3 people with each donation, so be sure to sign up now!
Attention BSU Club: We will have a guest speaker today at the BSU meeting in Q-2 during lunch. His name is SSgt. Wendell Winston. We will also be discussing our upcoming coat drive for elementary students in grades K-6 and our Halloween potluck on Wednesday, October 31st.
Reminder: Girls soccer conditioning starts TODAY (October 15th), 3:00 pm @ JV Baseball field. Make sure you’re getting your physicals done and uploaded to Family ID. If you have any questions, contact Coach Rich.
Reminder: Do you have a secret talent you want to show to the school? Well little buddy you’re in luck because there are auditions for Vanden’s Got Talent today through October 19th. Sign-ups are in P2, so go ahead and sign up right now!
Reminder to all FNL Club that meetings for Friday Night Live are now EVERY Thursday during lunch in P3. Be sure to spread the word to your friends and come join us!
Attention senior families. A reminder that the FAFSA is now open. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid is the first step towards college success and helps students qualify for a variety of student aid, including grants and scholarships. All seniors planning to continue their education after high school are encouraged to submit a FAFSA before the March 2nd deadline. See the Counseling office for more information. Seniors will receive financial aid information in their English classes on Tuesday, October 16th.
Anime Club is now watching ‘From Up on Poppy Hill,’ so please come and join. Room N-3 every Wednesday at lunch. We are also doing an art contest. Please submit a design for the Anime Club’s future mascot.
Vanden High School will be hosting the fifth annual seasonal and permanent part time job fair on Tuesday, October 16th from 3:00 to 7:00 pm in the Little Theater. Register for the job fair and fill out online applications ahead of time. Look in the ‘News’ section on the Vanden website for more details.
Have you noticed the blue or green tubs with holes in the top in your classrooms? Those are for you to recycle cans and bottles. Please do not put paper or other materials in there. The Environmental Club meets Fridays at lunch and after school for recycling in room M-1. See you there!
Drama Club t-shirts are now available for purchase at the ASB window. Shirts cost $20. Wear your drama club shirt to any drama department show and receive a discount on your ticket price!
Do you need help with college applications or want help exploring NAVIANCE, our new college and career exploration tool? Counselors will be in the library on Wednesdays and Thursdays during lunch to assist you.
He Vikes! If you would like to get involved and help our local veterans, the Fairfield Outpatient Clinic is in need of gently used clothes, shoes, blankets, bags and unopened travel-sized toiletries. You can drop off all your donations in H-3 before October 19th.
The ‘Finger Knitting Club’ meeting is planning their next meeting for Wednesday, October 17th at lunch in S-6. Come learn how this fun activity.
Hey Seniors! Chico State will be having their Preview Day on Saturday, October 20th from 9:00 am-2:00 pm. You and your families will have the opportunity to tour the campus, learn about financial aid, and meet with academic department representatives and student support representatives. Homecoming dance this year is semi-formal! It will be on Saturday, October 27th from 7:30-10:30 pm. Tickets are on sale at the ASB window for $10 with ASB sticker and $15 without, $20 at the door or for guests.
Sophomore class shirts are on sale now! The date has been extended until October 12th and they are $25. Get them while you can!
The ‘Shoe Drive’ is starting back up again through Key Club along with Fairfield HS, Benicia HS, and Vacaville HS. Any new or gently used shoes are acceptable and can be donated in your English classrooms. Ask Keoni Yonamine from Key Club for more information or Key Club Advisors and Leadership.

Vanden student job seekers. The holiday season is just around the corner and employers will be looking for seasonal workers! If you’re ready to start working, let us help. Our after-school Work-Ready Certificate program starts October 15th through November 2nd and meets every Monday through Friday directly after 6th period in Room K2. We’ll give you all the skills and tools you need to get a job. If you’re interested come to counseling office and pick up an application or informational flyer.
