The ‘Shoe Drive’ is starting back up again through Key Club along with Fairfield HS, Benicia HS, and Vacaville HS. Any new or gently used shoes are acceptable and can be donated in your English classrooms. Ask Keoni Yonamine from Key Club for more information or Key Club Advisors and Leadership.
Are you part of the class of 2021? Show your class spirit by purchasing a class shirt. For the low price of $25, you can purchase a long sleeve shirt in either black or yellow. Head over to the ASB window to purchase then before they are gone.

On September 26th registration for PSAT will open to sophomores. The registration fee for sophomores is $21 to be paid by cash or check to the ASB window during lunch or after school from 2:15-2:45. The test is Saturday, October 13th at Vanden High School from 8am-12pm. Juniors and Sophomores can continue to register at the ASB window until we no longer have any seats available.
Do you like debating? Have you ever wanted to join in on actual political discussions? If so, come join Junior State of America, meetings are held every non-common planning Wednesdays and debates will be held on Common Planning weeks, but on Fridays in P3 during lunch! This is open to everyone, so don’t be afraid to join? The first debate will be this Friday and the topic is ‘should healthcare be free?’ Hope to see you there!

The Vanden Viking Boosters will have their first meeting of the new school year on Wednesday, September 26th at 6:30 pm in classroom E-4 (Coach Murphy’s classroom). We will be discussing the direction of the Boosters for the upcoming year, Bingo procedures and fundraising. Boosters meetings re open to any interested parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle or members of the community who have a desire to help our students excel. Looking forward to seeing you on the 26th!
Everyone is welcome to attend Vanden’s first every Baha’i Unity Club meeting this Friday at lunch in room F1-2. The theme for this meeting is: “Unity in Diversity.” We will have a guest speaker, Mr. Leon Pearson from Quebec, Canada who will be speaking on this very important principle. We will also be showing the newly released “Unity in Diversity Mural” video. See you there!

Vanden student job seekers. The holiday season is just around the corner and employers will be looking for seasonal workers! If you’re ready to start working, let us help. Our after-school Work-Ready Certificate program starts October 15th through November 2nd and meets every Monday through Friday directly after 6th period in Room K2. We’ll give you all the skills and tools you need to get a job. If you’re interested come to counseling office and pick up an application or informational flyer.
Seniors: The Questbridge College Match program provides scholarships for students interested in applying to the nation’s most selective colleges. Applicants will have primarily A’s in the most challenging courses, strong test scores, and demonstrate financial need. The application deadline is September 27th and is available online at questbridge.org. Additional information is available in the Counseling office.
Upcoming college fairs: The Performing and Visual Arts College Fair is happening on September 20th in San Francisco. Learn about colleges that offer majors in the art field and other specialized arts programs. Register online at gotomypvfair.com. The STEM College and Career Fair is happening on October 7th at the Santa Clara Convention Center. Students will be able to talk with college representatives about their STEM degree programs. Students can also learn about internship and career opportunities from STEM industry professionals.
