At its July 14 Special Board meeting, after much discussion and deep consideration, the Travis Unified Governing Board voted to open schools on August 13th in full distance learning. This was not an easy decision, by any means, but was made with the safety of our students, staff, and families as its top priority.
We wish to thank you for the overwhelming response to our survey – 65% of families. We know that the climate and virus activity has changed dramatically since the survey, and the Board contemplated all information, from parent input during the meeting, public health official guidelines, and Governor Newsom's tightened restrictions in order to make a decision that best protects of the well-being of our students, staff, families, and community.
We will continue to work with our teachers, administrators, and staff on the logistics in preparation for instruction and will provide specific details of our improved distance learning program soon. Our desire is that our students return to in-class instruction and we will continue to work towards that endeavor as soon as it is safe to do so.
