Travis Unified Alliance for Science: A DoDEA grant

We are excited to announce that Travis USD has been awarded a third DoDEA grant.  This project is called Travis Unified Alliance for Science.  Funds for this grant will be used to propel the achievement of military-connected students in science, technology, and engineering to world-class standards.  High school science students will have technology to collect and analyze lab data, run simulations, and access current research.  Students will start to learn computer programming in Kindergarten, and computer science, technology, and engineering are smoothly integrated with science instruction through a partnership with the UC Davis C-STEM Center.

This year, 2019-2020, is a planning year with implementation of the activities starting in 2020-2021.  The district has already purchased new science curriculum for Transitional Kindergarten through 6th grade.  High school science teachers are meeting regularly to plan and collaborate.  Elementary teachers participated in training for the new science curriculum before school started.  Many more activities are planned so be sure to check back for regular updates!
