Attendance Policy
Regular school attendance is a necessary part of the learning process and the means to graduate with a quality education and a diploma. Frequent absences put a student’s education and future in jeopardy.
Parents/guardians are obligated to send their children to school and a student’s absence shall be EXCUSED only for the following reasons:
- Personal Illness
- Quarantine
- Medical Appointment
- Attendance at funeral services for a member of the immediate family –
a. Excused absence in this instance shall be limited to one day if the service is conducted in California
or three days if out of state.b. “Immediate family” shall be defined as mother, father, grandmother/father, brother, sister or any relative living in the student’s home
5. Jury Duty in the manner provided by law6. The illness or medical appointment during school hours of a child to whom the student is the custodial parent7. Upon advance written request by the parent/guardian and the approval of the principal or designee –a. Appearance in court
b. Attendance at funeral service
c. Observation of a holiday or ceremony of student’s religion
i. Attendance at religious retreats not to exceed four hours per semester
8. Participation in religious instruction or exercises in accordance with district policy
