Vanden Back to School first day information

    Good evening Vanden Families,

We are so excited for our first day of school on Thursday, August 11th.  Please take a few minutes to read over the reminders below and important information about attendance and safety during student drop off. School policies, rules and behavioral expectations can be found in Vanden’s Student Handbook. The expectation is that students and families have reviewed the handbook before the start of school. Link to Student Handbook

    10th-12th Grade New Student Orientation

Orientation for all new students to Vanden, including 9th graders who missed freshman orientation, is tomorrow, Aug. 10th, from 9-10 am, in the Little Theater (next to the front office). New students will have an opportunity to meet staff, learn about Vanden, ask questions and to tour the campus to find classrooms with student guides. Parents are welcome to join their student for this orientation.

    Class Schedules

    • Student schedules are now viewable in the Aeries portal under “Classes”. Students should check their schedule before coming to school tomorrow morning in case there are recent changes.

    • If your student is newly enrolled, they may not have classes scheduled yet and should wait to attend school once they have a complete schedule. Completed schedules will be viewable in the Aeries portal.

    • If you are not seeing your student’s schedule in the Aeries portal under classes, it may be that you have not submitted all required documents (including transcript/ final grades from previous school, birth certificate, immunizations and proof of residency). Those students with missing documents, will not have a complete schedule.

    • Schedule change request forms are available under the policy and procedures tab on the Vanden website. Fillable forms are due no later than Monday, August 15th.  Change of Schedule

    Senior Sunrise

Thursday morning is the annual Senior Sunrise, which will start at 5:45 am and end at 7:15 am at the football stadium. There will be snacks, refreshments, and Baby O’s Donuts, as well as activities.  More information about Senior activities can be found on the attached Senior Checklist document.

    Drop off and Pick up

Traffic entering campus is typically heavy in the morning. The yellow highlighted areas in the map below indicate the two, safe drop off areas for students. If entering from Viking Lane, please use the drop off area behind the library. If entering from De Ronde, please use the drop off area in the staff parking lot. Pull in parallel to the sidewalk when dropping in the staff lot. Do not park in the parking spaces as this causes congestion. The red area in the front of the school is reserved for busses only. Your student’s safety is our primary concern and we have designed our drop off areas so student do not have to cross a street to reach campus. Please keep everyone safe by only using the designated drop off locations and obeying all traffic laws. Do not drop off your student on the opposite side of the street.
