Ms. Maranda Hanson
I grew up all over the West Coast, graduated with a Bachelors in Religious Studies from UC Santa Barbara, and completed my teaching credential at California Baptist University. I am currently in my 16th year teaching 6th grade in Travis Unified. I take pride in my job and enjoy my role in my students’ lives every day. Not only am I a teacher, I am a life-long learner. I have a Masters in Administration to become an administrator some day. I received my first Masters in Education and National Board Certification in 2008. The National Board Certification is the highest symbol of professional teaching excellence. I circumnavigated the globe in 1999 while taking part in Semester At Sea, a program allowing college students to travel different countries and learn about each unique culture. In 2005, I backpacked through Europe experiencing many more countries and cultures. I am always excited to teach World History as a part of the 6th grade curriculum because I can share first hand stories and pictures that pertain to each country we study as well as relate to my students who have been stationed with their families around the world. I’m excited for the new year where every student and I can have a fresh start.
