K9 Detection Dogs
Travis Unified School District is taking a proactive measure to increase security and safety in our District. We utilize the services of K9 detection dogs. The K9s are trained in the detection of illegal drugs, firearms, and ammunition. The K9s will make unannounced visits throughout the year and will perform searches of common areas on campus at Golden West Middle School , Vanden High School, and Travis Education Center. The K9s do not have contact with students while they are actively working. This does not imply that any school in our District is unsafe; rather, we are choosing to use every tool available to ensure that our schools are safe and secure.
