A Comprehensive School Safety Plan (CSSP) is an annually-revised plan to develop strategies aimed at the
prevention of, and education about, potential incidents involving crime and violence on the school campus. All
California K-12 public schools must develop a CSSP that addresses the safety concerns identified through a
systematic planning process in cooperation with local law enforcement agencies, community leaders, parents,
pupils, teachers, administrators, and other persons who may be interested in the prevention of campus crime and
violence.
The requirements and mandate for CSSPs are outlined in Education Code Sections 32280 - 32289 School Safety
Plans.
