• Standardized Testing and Reporting (STAR)
The signing of Assembly Bill (AB) 484, on October 2, 2013,  replaced the STAR program with the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) assessment system.  The primary purpose of the CAASPP system is to assist teachers, administrators, and pupils and their parents by promoting high-quality teaching and learning through the use of a variety of assessment approaches and item types.
The provisions of AB 484 took effect on January 1, 2014.  However, the transition to this new system of assessments and assessment tools will take several years to complete.
