Districts were offered a choice between using a state reflection tool or a locally selected measure or tool. We used a rubric streamlined from a tool created by the Butte County Office of Education. Teachers rated their progress on implementing state academic standards on a five point scale, from the exploration and research phase to full implmentation.
Our teachers identified areas where standards are fully implemented and areas where we are still learning. Elementary science ratings have grown one level each year, and we are implementing new NGSS Science materials this year, heading toward full implementation. Elementary History-Social Science is rated at a 3.4 with a 4 being full implementation. Secondary world language teachers rate their implementation at 2, beginning development. Core areas are rated at full implementation in secondary schools, except for NGSS Science, rated at 3.6 in the comprehensive high school. We are continuing work on full implementation of the new science standards.
