    Creative Writing:

Students create original essays, poems, and short stories in this course. They read short stories and other forms of writing and use these as models to fuse these works with their personal life experiences as they compose their own writing projects. Students are encouraged to write about topics they find engaging as they practice writing on the following themes: narration, definition, cause and effect, and comparison/contrast. As the students produce their written drafts, they will engage in writer’s workshops where they share feedback and ideas with one another. This feedback helps students learn how to improve their self-expression and self-editing skills as well as gain the confidence to become strong writers. Students will hear and read written work aloud.
